Synopsis
DownloadThis is how it is: you get only one version of the film. We tried different formats and settings but the one we judged best was a 320 x 240 Windows Media file. The file size is a little hefty for dial-up users, but it is not too big, even at 28.8kbps. At 2:47, it is a fairly long movie for such a relatively small file size. Anyway, enjoy the movie and spread the word. [wrca.wmv WindowsMedia 4.6 megs] Special FeaturesAfter you watch the film, go behind the scenes. The interview with RC is an absolute must. It doesn’t actually tell you any real information, but it’s really funny. The interview with Brian actually does have interesting facts. Watch both. Share them. Love them.
CommentaryIn the first scene, Kirk, playing himself, walks into his room where he is killed. Due to poor editing, the death seen is shown twice. We like the effect it gives—almost looks purposeful. Kirk tossed coins up to illustrate RC’s (Rolled Coins, the bad guy) explosion upon impact. (These are actually supposed to be RC’s comrades who kill themselves in kamikaze attacks. The main RC himself wouldn’t dream of dying for a cause.) In reality, the roll that was thrown throughout the film was stuffed full of cotton balls. One cotton ball, darkened with a marker, was reserved to be taped on an actual roll of quarters that, with a devil face drawn on, served for close-ups of RC. Although RC is Russian, he managed to pick up a pretentious French laugh courtesy the able voice talents of Brian. In the next seen, GG (Gay Guy), Kirk’s somewhat effeminate neighbor, comes over to see what has happened. A cop, AC, is already there standing outside the door of the bedroom where Kirk was killed. As an interesting side-note, it took more time to get Brian in the leather pants than to film the entire movie. In a moment of genius, Brian let out a high-pitched squeal that surprised—and inspired—us all. The next scene starts with an important close-up. AC is wearing a police headband fasioned from construction paper and taped to his head. We felt it quite important to make the tape very obvious simply to make fun of cops. The donut reference serves only to further the pig imagery. Also, Brian, who seconds before played GG, is now (sans leather pants) AC’s partner. We hope the wardrobe change makes it apparent that he is, in fact, a totally separate character. This is the best we can hope for with a cast of three. The “Cops” spoof is far more complicated than actually makes it in the film. We have two walkie talkies but only one would actually make sounds. Kirk had well over ten seconds of screaming for help but only about three came through and those were garbled except for the final yelling. It actually worked out better that way. We decided to call it “Old Man McGee’s” house as a subtle homage to that vestige of our childhood, Scooby Doo. We’re not sure if that cartoon ever referred to anyone by that name specifically, but the spirit is the same! The part when AC and his cameraman (Brian yet again) go in the house is very important. AC walks in first and is hit from the side with a kamikaze attack. Then Brian steps forward and, with a smack on his neck for sound effects, carefully falls down. While wild and blurry at first, the last few seconds of this scene are critical. We see RC (the actual leader) smoking a cigarette and, much more importantly, the walkie talkie beside him. The cry for help was actually faked by him! The final few seconds of the film race by. Kirk, this time with a jacket on, plays the President. As originally filmed, he gets killed (a second death scene for him) and there is a close-up of his bloody face, quarters strewn about. However, our rudimentary editing technique (consisting of simply filming over) left us with nothing more than a shot of a quickly scrawled piece of paper that told people it was at the White House and almost two spoken words. This is quite distressing because that fake blood was hard to clean off. Then, there is an ultra-short conclusion with RC standing in front of a podium with the Presidential Seal (just another sheet of paper with the image printed off the internet, cut and tri-folded).
